Consistency Matters Most

Are you doing enough?

Hello and welcome to the 4th installment of the Dream Workers newsletter.

Throughout life, we all experience highs and lows that coincide with our everyday decisions that are accompanied by a plethora of distractions that are brought to our attention by the people and situations we are surrounded with. As a result, we will undoubtedly find ourselves stepping off the gas pedal in regard to our most important endeavors to accommodate the curveballs that life hurls at us. I shouldn’t have to say this but, unforeseen circumstances are a part of what makes this life truly genuine. If everything was the same all the time, would we be able to appreciate the times when the tide is low, and the winds have settled?

Maintaining consistency is a life principle that I personally hold in high regard. It is a fair self-assessment to say that when I do experience inconsistent times in my life, I tend to feel dejected and removed from the world because how can I be happy and enjoy myself if I am not living to my fullest potential at all times? Well, I’m here to tell you I am working on this aspect of my personality at this current moment in time. To truly appreciate the good times, you have to also experience some bad times.; Yin to the Yang for my Taoists' out there…

“Disciplined and calm, to await the appearance of disorder and hubbub amongst the enemy: — this is the art of retaining self-possession. “

Sun Tzu

Remaining consistent is a necessary aspect to elevating your life and taking yourself to new heights. With that fact in mind, I would like to remind anyone who may have forgotten… It is okay to slip up, make mistakes, and realize you could have done better; what is not okay is; giving up, giving in, or letting “failure” reside where a lesson is to be learned instead. Remove the word ‘failure’ from your vocabulary right now. That word no longer exists because, if you end up missing the mark, saying the wrong thing, or making a wrong decision. IT IS OKAY! Utilize the opportunity that has presented itself to you and LEARN from past transgressions. Learning is how you overcome and defeat the challenges life places at your feet. Will you step over the rubble? Or lose your balance and say to hell with it, these rocks aren’t that uncomfortable.

After almost 26 years on this Earth, I’ve come across many people who overcomplicate this shared experience and decide to harp on minuscule events because it simply gives them something to talk about (myself included in previous years). In all fairness, every person’s experience is valid and worth the brain processing power however, life can also be extremely simplistic depending on how you decide to view this world. Typically, the people who are busy creating a life they want to live are simply too pre-occupied with the task at hand to focus so much energy on minute hiccups that they will eventually experience. The individuals who aren’t so focused on elevating themselves will have the time to dwell on the past and get caught up in existential crisis’s seemingly almost daily. Our life experience can be summed up by one simple question. Are you doing enough?

May we all continue to find the best versions of ourselves, within ourselves.

Take care, and until next time - Keep Dreaming.
